Use navigation mechanisms appropriately
WAI / WCAG 1.0 Priority 2 checkpoint 13.4
Issue Description The page seems to contain a navigation bar. Ensure that navigation bars across the site are consistent. |
|
How to check
Look at all the navigation bars in the site and ensure that they are as consistent as possible in the ordering, positioning, formatting and labeling of their links. |
|
Issue Explanation Consistency is a key factor for achieving an accessible and usable site. In fact, if a feature (like a navigation bar) is used consistently through the pages of the site, the visitor will quickly grasp the meaning of the navigation bar, and of its buttons/links, and will be able to use it without hesitation. If, on the other side, a group of links keeps changing from page to page, then a visitor has to re-learn it each time it appears. This is time consuming, requires effort on the user and is more error prone (the user might click involuntarily on a link). |
