In the first place, it is believed that if you were doing a work that you do not like, and you definitely have no interest in that, you will not treat it as important work and, surely, you wonˇ¦t dedicate to it. And the job will not be done successfully. Take my younger brother as an example. He is very smart. But he doesnˇ¦t like studying some subject such as Chinese History, Geography and history. He likes to work with computer and deals with analysis. Thus, he likes to work with computer and study Physics. And so, he listens to what the teacher said in the computer and Physics lesson. But, he sleeps in other lessons. He got very high marks in the former two subjects, and performed very badly in the others. He therefore feels dissatisfied when he studies other subjects other than computer and Physics. Certainly, some may argue that they can do something successfully even though they are not interested in it. However, this is hardly to be done, as you wonˇ¦t enjoy doing it.
Undoubtedly, some people would consider the money they received as the most important thing. The higher income they can get, the more satisfaction they can get. But, take some drug smugglers as an example, although they can get much more money than normal people, their money is illegal. It is said without doubt that they are not treated as success. As a result, money is not the only factor that makes you satisfied, but also how you get it. For instance, if you are a teacher, you teach your student wholeheartedly, then even though if there is not a large sum of money, you can still be treated as success.
Moreover, it is often said that good academic performance is vital for success. Then, they think that receiving University education and get good results is needed for success. There is an idea implicit in the statement that for any success in the community, how to motivate people and making people work as a team towards a common goal is much more essential than pure academic achievement. University education in general does not offer courses to train these soft skills. Ironically, it is always seen that the higher the academic achievement someone has attained, the more isolated the human relationships the person maintained.
Last but not least, success means that there is something which may be visible, invisible, tangible or intangible, created or delivered by someone. In addition, those things are of great values or meaning to the individual, his family, the community and even the human society. In consequence, with developing an interest in your work, there surely can be real satisfaction.
