More and more people like going to mainland China, especially Shen Zhen, and spending there. They think that food and goods there are cheap.

The popularity for the Hong Kong citizens to shop in mainland China has shocked most economists who think that shopping there will bring adverse effects to Hong Kong economy. However, most of the Hong Kong citizens think that it is wise to shop in mainland China where food and goods are cheap as they can save much money. Since shopping in mainland China will affect our economy directly, it is time for us to look into this issue in depth.

In fact, spending money in mainland China has many disadvantages. Firstly, it is not good to the economy of Hong Kong. All of us know that the economy in Hong Kong is getting worse. A lot of shops and companies close down because they cannot earn enough money to cover their cost and hence unemployment rate has increased greatly. As a result, if people keep on spending in mainland China instead of in Hong Kong, the above situation will become even worse. Admittedly, the goods in Shen Zhen are much cheaper than that of the Hong Kong. We can save money if we buy things there. However, is it really worth for us to spend in Shen Zhen in order to save such a small amount of money? I really feel doubted about it. In fact, we have to bear a cost if we shop in mainland China. We may lose our jobs because more and more shops will wind up if no one expends in Hong Kong. Therefore, it seems that we can benefit from buying things in Shen Zhen, but in fact, we are only the victims.

Secondly, the goods in mainland China have no guarantee. Many of the goods are pirated and in low quality. Last week, my friend told me that he had bought a di! scman at a low price in Shen Zhen. He was very happy about that. However, after 3 days, his discman was broken. As a result, he went to Shen Zhen again and asked that shop to give him a new one. But that shopkeeper refused to do so and said that this discman did not have any warranty. My friend was cheated. Some people may think that they are very canny. They will not be cheated by those tricky businessmen easily. Nevertheless, the pirated goods now are very real. It is difficult for us to determine whether the product is fake or not. Sometimes, we even do not know we have bought a fake product or being cheated by others. Consequently, it is not wise to spend money in mainland China.

When we buy things in mainland China, we are indeed destroying the economy of Hong Kong and our future. Therefore, if we really want our economy to become flourish again, don’t shop in mainland China anymore.
